My husband and I finally made the move and decided our 3 1/2 year old son was ready for his first movie in a theater. I had been thinking about this for a while now and after seeing previews on tv for the new Grinch movie, I could not wait to take Gavin and see what his reaction would be.
He ended up loving the movie and did so well! He was not able to take his eyes off the big screen and was in his glory with popcorn, candy, and soda. Not to mention, Gavin thought the big reclining seats were the coolest things in the world!
Even when he did start getting tired of sitting, Gavin quietly stood up and went over to the ledge in front of us while continuing to eagerly look at the screen. He sat on my husband’s lap and my lap, loving the ability to lay back in the seat. It was the cutest thing when Gavin would point to the characters and say something about each one.
I was so proud of my son for doing amazingly well his first time at the movie theater. If you are unsure about whether or not your child is ready to be at the movies, I would say to try it and see what the reaction is. There is so much there that children most likely have never experienced before and would be exciting to them. Most importantly, it is a very special way to make new memories with your little ones. Leave in the comments what your child’s first movie was in theaters.
